PSG Manchester are holding a choice of free half day CPD events on the 27th March, choose from the morning or afternoon sessions to fit in with your workload.

Our afternoon session with take place in Bury at the The Village Hotel (directions here) is worth 2.5 CPD hours and fulfills A2 of the SRA Competence Statement.

The event aims to bring you up to date with what is happening in our industry and will feature the following seminars.

 

Conveyancing Update - The New CON29 Questions 
Stephen Desmond will present this one hour session which provides an overview of the key changes to the Con29 and covers the following:

  • What is a local development order? 
  • Who is liable for a business improvement district (BID) levy? 
  • Implications if an area is a mineral safeguarding area 
  • Notices under the Food Safety and Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013 
  • Implications of flood defence or land drainage consent being given or refused 
  • Statutory notices relating to flood and coastal erosion risk management 
  • Nature of prescribed information about maps and statements, deposited in connection with town and village greens 
  • The purpose of the new questions concerning listed buildings 
  • The new questions concerning recording public rights of way and legal orders associated with such rights
  • Key elements of the Sustainable Urban Drainage System 
  • Community Infrastructure Levy: the charge, liability, statutory notices and enforcement measures 
  • Implications of a property being nominated as an asset of community value and restrictions on disposal of such a property

 

Conveyancing Risk: Fraud 
Victoria Cope from Lawyer Checker will present this one hour session
 

Updates from the SRA on the amount of risk there continues to be in the conveyancing industry. We’ll cover a number of cases that went to court where money was successfully intercepted on a transaction and what the outcome / impacts were for the firm and the client. The session will also cover some hints and tips on protecting firms and finally using Lawyer Checker as a risk management service. 

 

 

The Greater Manchester Spatial Framework (GMSF)
Ian Oliver from PSG will present this half hour session which provides an overview of the draft GMSF framework proposals.

The Greater Manchester Spatial Framework (GMSF) will ensure that the right land in the right places to deliver the homes and jobs we need up to 2035, along with identifying the new infrastructure (such as roads, rail, Metrolink and utility networks) required to achieve this. It will be the overarching development plan within which Greater Manchester’s ten local planning authorities can identify more detailed sites for jobs and homes in their own area
