Why does the GDPR apply to law firms?
Every firm is a ‘data controller’ and every firm obviously holds and processes the personal data of not only clients, but also partners and staff.
The GDPR will apply to how firms treat this personal data internally, as part of the conveyancing transaction and beyond when it is added to your CRM for cross selling and marketing.
The GDPR should be on the agenda for action by your firm’s senior management team. Have they started to recognise this significant compliance issue which requires careful attention and resources? Action is needed now to avoid falling foul of the regulations and the embarrassment of not knowing the law.
