The Law Society Property Section Webinar - Planning and Building Regulations Update

In association with PSG and free to Property Section members, this webinar forms part of the Law Society Property Section’s annual webinar programme.

Start Date: Tuesday 20 November 2012

Start Time: 09:00

End Date: Tuesday 20 November 2012

End Time: 05:00

Location: Online, N/A

Property owners and developers have been faced with a changing legal landscape. The Localism Act introduced new rights and powers to give local communities the ability to shape their area by preparing neighbourhood plans.

The Act permits communities to plan the type of development they would like to see without the need of a planning application using neighbourhood development orders. In addition the Department for Communities and Local Government has issued detailed proposals on changes to the Building Regulations. While most of the changes are largely deregulatory there are proposals to improve the energy efficiency and safety aspects of new buildings.

This webinar will examine:
• Key changes introduced by the Localism Act and the proposed changes to the Building Regulations
• An examination of how parish and town councils and neighbourhood forums are working
• What the take up of the Community right to build has been
• An introduction to The National Planning Policy Framework
• What does sustainable development involve?
• How to develop an effective local plan
